Hello All

With Christmas fast approaching with unusually balmy weather here in the south of UK, I thought I should dump a bit more data (and nonsense) on unwitting readers.

1. Serious stuff. Christmas over here is quite amazing. The effort that people and communities put into the celebration is incredible…the lights in homes and in streets are quite spectacular…..of cause aided by the fact that darkness decends by 4.30 pm. Nonetheless everyone seems to really get into the christian spirit of Christmas

2.Did you know that most of the Beetles songs mentioned the weather??? 

3. Intersting chap at the golf club…He spent his career as an engineer on merchant ships. He met his now wife 12 months before they were married…the unusual bit is that he was only in the UK with his “girl” for 2 of those 12 months. His boat was unexpectedly called into dry dock, so he called his girl from the dock and suggested that they should get married….in two weeks time…no engagement as we know it. They were duly married and then he headed back to sea ..FOR THE NEXT 11 MONTHs. They eventually had 4 kids and have now been married for 52 years..

4. Our walking regime continues…Tina more so than I because I have to drag myself away to play golf occasionally. The choice of walking tracks are endless and you will get a flavour of the  varied scenery from the snaps below…all taken within  30 minutes on a recent “ramble"…and I didn’t include any photos of pubs along the way. Im afraid the walks along Gardner’s  creek Glen Iris don’t really stack-up.

I should mention that on a recent 10k walk with Dom and Emma along along the south coast between Brighton and and Hastings, one of us found it extremely difficult to stay vertical. The surface along a wet river bank was as slippery as glass and yours truly finished on my back 3 times…sprained knee..broken back …and hurt pride. Repairs underway…

5. Something that always intrigues me over here is the fact that they sell fuel in litres and yet they travel miles (not Kms) Then again the US sell fuel in gallons and travel kms

7. KIDS KORNER

Why did the doughnut maker sell his shop? Answer: He got fed up with the hole business

Why did the orange take a grape to the Christmas party?? Answer: Because it couldnt find a date

How many apples would you have if you took 3 apples from a bowl of 5 apples? Answer 3 apples
